A civil engineer with more than a decade of professional experience, which includes land development and construction, commercial, industrial, and residential projects, and design and project management, Bradley A. Freeman has found success as a project manager at Abaci Consulting—an Iowa-based provider of civil engineering and land surveying services—since 2023. He previously served for 10 years at Olsson, advancing from a project engineer specializing in land development to a project construction manager—a role in which he traveled to construction sites, monitored the execution of plans, and fielded any and all questions from contractors and subcontractors.
Equipped with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource and Environmental Engineering and a Bachelor of Applied Science from Kansas State University, Mr. Freeman struggled in the field as a beginner and has, as a result, been passionate about helping to make employment easier for student interns. Since 2015, through Olsson Associates, he has provided interns with the knowledge and resources he did not have when he started. In addition, he has mentored high school students through the Center for Advanced Professional Studies program in Kansas City, which he helped to establish—mock tasks are created for four to five students, who are rotated to different teams in a project to allow them to experience how each discipline works together to impact the undertaking. Outside of his primary endeavors, he volunteers for an eagle study with the United States Department of Natural Resources; numerous exhibits, including butterfly gardens; the Blank Park Zoo; and Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Freeman is also affiliated with the local chapter of Toastmasters International.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Freeman strives to advance to an upper leadership role in his field and build a team. He’s also interested in improving practices for existing teams to ensure their work impacts communities in a positive way. The oldest of five, his three brothers are a mechanical engineer, aerospace engineer, and in construction management, respectively, while his only sister follows a scientific path in biology.
